“3 Superstars in Berlin”
Three Opera Superstars Together on the Big Screen
Elmhurst, IL- For two nights only, the York Theatre will be presenting the performance of a lifetime in the film “3 Superstars in Berlin.” Slated for Thursday, January 26th and Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 7 PM, three opera prodigies will be taking the stage in this captivating film. From famous duets to classical arias, this incredible performance will be brought to the big screen at the York Theatre, located at 150 N. York St. in downtown Elmhurst. Tickets are $18 a person.
During “3 Superstars in Berlin,” three of the biggest names in opera come together for a once in a lifetime performance. Opera superstar Anna Netrebko returns to Berlin’s stunning Waldbuhne, one of the world’s most impressive open stages. Against this amazing backdrop, she is joined by her husband, baritone Erwin Schrott and star tenor Jonas Kaufman in a program that includes famous duets from Bernstein’s West Side Story, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, as well as popular Tango duets and arias from Mozart (Leporello’s aria from Don Giovanni) and excerpts from Gounod’s Faust. Accompanying the singers, Marco Armiliato conducts the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
