Returning for its Red Kettle Campaign kick-off, The Salvation Army is once again partnering with Classic Cinemas for a special screening of ”The Wizard of Oz”at the York Theatre. This iconic, favorite film will be presented on Sunday, November 15, 2015, at 4 PM at the York Theatre, located at 150 N. York Street in downtown Elmhurst. Tickets are $7.50, with all proceeds to benefit The Salvation Army.
“We hope to bring many people out to watch the show this classic film on the big screen and support our efforts,” said The Salvation Army Development Director Sue Linden. “This year’s donations will help offset the stretch of our resources in many areas. There will be a kettle for moviegoers to participate through their donations. All proceeds from the event will aid in support of the many programs and services offered by The Salvation Army.
A Brief Synopsis of “The Wizard of Oz” (1939)
In this charming film based on the popular L. Frank Baum stories, Dorothy and her dog Toto are caught in a tornado’s path and ultimately end up in the Land of Oz. Here she meets some memorable friends and foes in her journey to meet the Wizard of Oz who everyone says can help her return home and possibly grant her new friends their goals of a brain, heart, and courage.
