Classic Cinemas Introduces Virtual Tours Of All 13 Theatres

Classic Cinemas recently launched virtual theatre tours of each of its 13 locations on its website, www.classiccinemas.com. Now, from the comfort of your own home, this brand new system allows moviegoers to take a stroll through each theatre by just a click of a button! See what makes each Classic Cinemas theatre unique from the lobby and party rooms to the auditoriums and backstage, even into the projection and sound booths!

Summus Photography and their team of experts are the geniuses behind this cool new feature. They began work with Classic Cinemas in October 2011, when they shot the Tivoli in Downers Grove and the York Theatre in Elmhurst. The remaining tours were captured in March of this year. Each theatre was processed, reviewed and finalized separately with a final package prepared in May.

The process behind creating these virtual tours is quite extensive and require tight attention to detail. A Canon DSLR camera with a fisheye lens was used to create the various still shots of the theatre. Those shots were then processed, stitched together and finalized to a make a panoramic image of the space. Then, the panoramic images were compiled into a virtual tour of each theatre. Each tour is full screen with high definition.

Les Surface of Summus Photography says working with Classic Cinemas was a real treat and capturing the historical, unique architecture of several Classic Cinemas™ historical venues made it all more interesting and fun.I love historic architecture and being able to be inside these buildings was a real pleasure. Through our eyes we saw first hand how seeing a movie in a setting such as the Tivoli Theatre is a special peek back to a different era, says Surface.

Virtual tours are a great way to showcase any facility and people love to view, manipulate and pass them along to their friends. For Classic Cinemas, the tours are a great way to promote their many distinctive venues for watching a movie, which is quite different from the cookie-cutter theaters with which we are familiar, says Surface.
