ELMHURST, Ill. (October 26, 2018) — In 1958, Vernon Pedersen purchased a large parcel of land comprised mostly of fruit orchards on which he designed and built his flagship funeral home to the highest standards available. Sixth years later, the company that still bears his name is now under new ownership and direction.
Today, the Honorable Steven Morley, Mayor of the City of Elmhurst, representatives of the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry (including President and CEO John Quigley) and special guests joined together to perform a ribbon-cutting ceremony in celebration of Pedersen Ryberg’s 60 years of service to Elmhurst and neighboring communities, and its new ownership.
The proud new owner of this 60 year old Elmhurst legacy and institution is Tom Suh, a dedicated and experienced veteran in his field, and owner of River Woods Funeral Home.
Carrying on the legacy and reputation for a family-owned business, Suh opens a new chapter in the company’s history.
“We are deeply committed to Elmhurst and adjacent communities particularly to serving families fairly and responsibly at their greatest time of need,” stated Suh. “This commitment is based on my prior industry reputation and track record, and also due to the tremendous optimism and faith I have in helping others when they need it the most.”
“For me, sincerity, respect and integrity are the key elements to the reputation I have worked so hard to establish and at Pedersen Ryberg we will carry on with this tradition with my team of Director-Managers,” added Suh.
“We are thrilled with this opportunity to invest in our community and be part of Elmhurst and its ambitious plans for the North York corridor. We are currently doing extensive upgrading and remodeling to better address the needs of our community,” concluded Suh.
In prior roles in the greater Chicago area, Tom Suh has been very active in many community and business organizations. Over the past 20 years, he has owned and operated River Woods funeral home and Hankook Funeral Service, which provide services throughout the greater Chicago area.
