Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Gregersen.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After a career spanning over 20 years in the home fashion industry with a strong focus on window coverings, I started our specialty boutique shop-at-home window treatment design firm.

I accessed what was out there, who our target client was and how we could meet her where she was in both her buying process and how she needed to shop to make her decision.

Beyond Shades understands and respects the need of today’s homeowner when it comes to their window covering purchases. We understand that you have worked hard for and appreciate your home. You love your home and want to choose the right product for it. While we ultimately offer shades, blinds, shutters, etc., we understand that the decision is completely beyond shades. It is about your lifestyle, how you live, how the light comes into your home, and what is aesthetically pleasing in your dwelling.

You are well aware, as are we, that in today’s competitive atmosphere, you have many choices for window coverings. From the first interaction until installation is complete, we work hard to make sure that you are happy with your decision to partner with us on a product that you are going to have for some time.

One of the company values that drives our success is that every customer and every project is a VIP. We are as passionate and committed to working with a client who needs one shade for a kitchen window as we are for a client doing an entire house of window coverings with us.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
More or less, yes. There were the really long days of being a start-up company along with juggling my responsibilities of a wife and mother of currently 8 and 3 year olds.

We are a custom window treatment company offering beautiful window treatments and impeccable service at an exceptional value.

We are known for keeping the “service” in customer service. Our operation is such that we want every client to feel like a VIP, almost as if they are our only client. Our knowledge, approach to the client that they are an individual with a clean slate for us to learn about them and then make the best recommendations to them for their home sets us apart. And the fact that we are shop at home and willing to do any size project. We will do one bathroom window or an entire home. We work with our clients in their space at their pace.

What were you like growing up?
Smart, outgoing, and artistic. I have always played to the beat of my own drum. I was accessed and determined to be a gifted student in the 4th grade, transferred to a gifted program and was there until I went to college. This meant that at an early age, I had to step out of the comfort zone of being in the neighborhood schools with everyone else. This was probably the beginning of me always being able to thrive when tossed in a situation that might be challenging to someone else. I have always been interested in art, fashion and interior fashions. They are my true passion. My taste varies strongly having a passion for Victorian, Arts and Crafts, Mid-Century Modern, and Mod homes. I also love social media and photography. All of this shows in how we present to our client.
