Anniversaries
National Bank of Commerce (5500 St. Charles Road, Berkeley), a Chamber member since 1997, marked its 40th Anniversary in business during a June 16 celebration.

BizKids Best Ball Scramble
The Chamber, in partnership with the Elmhurst YMCA (211 West First Street), will host its Second Annual BizKids Best Ball Scramble at River Forest Country Club (15W468 Grand Avenue) on Monday, July 17, starting with registration at 11:30 a.m.  The Catalano Mortgage Team of American Home Mortgage (105 south York Street, Suite 200) is a major event sponsor.  The cost of $200.00 per person include 18 holes of carted golf on a premiere private course, lunch, dinner and more.  Call Suzanne Wolf at the YMCA at 929-2461 for more info.

Business After Hours
Manion Decorating (393 Highland Avenue), in partnership with Grotto Romano Catering (416B North York Street), Elmhurst Toyota (440 West Lake Street) and Boutie Q Boutique (263 North York Street), will host the Chamber’s Business After Hours on Thursday, July 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Gubernatorial Endorsement
The Illinois Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors at their June 16 meeting endorsed the candidacy of State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka for Governor, citing her demonstrated accessibility and genuine interest in the state’s economy, sound fiscal practices in state management and cooperative engagement of employers and business on job creation and growth.

Membership Breakfast
The Elmhurst Park District (225 Prospect Avenue) will host the Chamber’s Membership Breakfast in the formal gardens at Wilder Park on Thursday, July 13, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.

Elmhurst Mayor Thomas D. Marcucci was honored as the Municipal Leader of the Year at the Illinois State Crime Commission’s 10th Annual Award Dinner in Oakbrook Terrace on June 21.

Schiller Real Estate (South York Street) set a record for pending home sales in May at $37.034 million, a 12 percent increase over 2005’s total of $33 million, despite a decrease in the average sale price in DuPage County, reported President Robert Schiller.

Synergistic Networks, Inc. relocated after eight years from its offices in the 180 West Park Avenue building now owned by the City of Elmhurst (209 North York Street) to Suite 225 in the 105 South York Street building owned by Frank Catalano Jr., effective June 15, announced President and CEO Greg Jiede.

Julius Wesley “Wes” Becton III, Executive Director of DuPage Medical Group in Lombard and formerly of Elmhurst Outpatient Surgery Center, LLC (1200 South York Street), was among three new members elected to the 39-member Board of Trustees at Elmhurst College (190 Prospect Avenue).

Karen McClure of Creative Inks (261 North York Street, Suite 201) attended the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) annual conference in San Francisco from June 1-3 and will complete her two-year term on the local chapter’s Board of Directors and member services liaison to the national board on June 30.

Elmhurst College’s Deicke Center for Nursing will bring its on-site Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Partnership Program to Gottlieb Hospital in Melrose Park, bringing the number of participating hospitals to seven starting this fall.
