The Chamber sends condolences to Dare Messina of Keller Williams Realty Results (112 South York Street) and First Vice-Chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors on the death of her father, Joseph Messina II.
“Batter Up!!!” Networking
Elmhurst is among 20 chambers participating in a networking event hosted by the DuPage Dragons at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex on Monday, July 31, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with free admission to the Central Illinois Collegiate League (CICL) baseball game versus the Dubois Bombers. Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 (130 West Madison Street) will host a “Meet Our New Superintendent” Business After Hours at York Community High School (355 West St. Charles Road) on Wednesday, August 23, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Dr. Lynn Krizic is the new Superintendent.
Chamber Steak Fry
ARC Disposal & Recycling Co., Inc. (2101 South Busse Road, Mt. Prospect) and the Elmhurst Jaycees (P.O. Box 235) will co-sponsor the Chamber’s Steak Fry/Business After Hours—featuring a hand-cut rib-eye steak dinner (or chicken breast) and all the fixings from The Silverado Grill (447 Spring Road) plus beverages—at The Hub at Beren’s Park (493 Oaklawn) on Wednesday, September 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The event includes use of the 18-hole miniature golf course, batting cages and spray ground. Ticket cost is $20.00 for two through August and $20.00 per person in September. Hot dogs and soft drinks are free for children and grandchildren.
Elmfest On Cable
Highlights from Elmfest 2006 will air on “Elmhurst Our Kind of Town” on Channel 6 of Comcast in July on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. and Sundays at 4:00 p.m.
Good Works Award
The Chamber presented Jerry Sletten, its volunteer Membership Coordinator and 2006 President of the People for Elmhurst Parks Foundation’s (P.O. Box 1303) Board of Trustees, with the “Tee Off for Toche” Good Works Award at the BizKids Best Ball Scramble cosponsored by the Chamber and Elmhurst YMCA (211 West First Street) at River Forest Country Club (15W468 Grand Avenue) on July 17. The award is named in honor of late Chamber President A.J. “Toche” Terrones.
Membership Breakfast
Lincoln at Ovaltine Court (1 Ovaltine Court, Villa Park) will host the Chamber’s Membership Breakfast on Wednesday, August 9, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.
New Teachers Luncheon
The Chamber is sponsoring its 16th Annual New Teachers Luncheon to welcome teachers new to Elmhurst’s public and private schools at the Diplomat West Banquet Halls (681 West North Avenue) on Monday, August 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Costs are $25.00 per person and $25.00 to sponsor a teacher. Donations for teacher goodie bags are welcome.

The Elmhurst Symphony Association (P.O. Box 345) presented Silver Measure Awards to Keith Olson and the late Shirley Muehlhausen in recognition of their spirit of volunteerism at the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra’s annual dinner in June. Olson is a former Symphony Board member and now serves on the Associate Board, while Muehlhausen was a founding member of the Auxiliary back in 1966.

The Elmhurst Children’s Assistance Foundation (P.O. Box 291) will sponsor its 11th Annual Golf Outing and Friend of the Children Awards Dinner at Oak Meadows Golf Course (900 North Wood Dale Road, Addison) on Tuesday, August 1, starting at 11:30 a.m. with registration.
