Elmfest On Cable TV
“Elmhurst Our Kind of Town” will air coverage of Elmfest 2003 on Channel 6 of Comcast on Fridays at 4:00 p.m. and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. in July.
Membership Breakfast
Wide Scope Staffing Services (4415 West Harrison, Suite 202A, Hillside) will host the Chamber’s Membership Breakfast on Wednesday, August 13, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. in partnership with GO Promotions (348 Fair Avenue) and Strategic Employee Benefit Services of Illinois, Inc. Newsmakers
The City of Elmhurst ranked 16th throughout Chicagoland with just under $1 billion in retail sales for 2002, nearly $88 million less than in 2001, according to Illinois Department of Revenue data compiled by Melaniphy & Associates, Inc., International Realty Advisors and Consultants. In automobile-related sales, Elmhurst generated just under $398 million, or $47 million less than the previous year.
From Other Lands (210 north York Street), a downtown store specializing in hand-woven rugs, antique furniture and imported items which held its Grand Opening from June 20-22, identified target customers, their needs and characteristics, and size and trends in the handmade rug market through a partnership with The Hardin Institute for Market Research at Elmhurst College (190 Prospect Avenue).
After decades of field testing by a partnership including The Morton Arboretum (4100 Illinois Route 53, Lisle), the disease-resistant Accolade Elm Tree is now available to wholesale and limited retail markets.
Elmhurst College (190 Prospect Avenue) has promoted Kate Sutfin from Annual Fund Director to Director of Alumni Relations.
Change of Scene (745 Fairfield Avenue) has hired Theresa (Teri) Smith as a full-time travel agent, specializing in Walt Disney World and cruise vacations.

Tee Off for Toche
The Chamber will run its “Tee Off for Toche” 55th Annual Golf Outing at Oak Meadows Golf Course in Addison on Tuesday, July 22, starting with registration at 11:30 a.m. The outing is named in memory of former Chamber President A.J. “Toche” Terrones, who passed away in June of 1999 the day before the event.
