“100 YEARS of BUSINESS,” the Elmhurst Independent’s special section on the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s 100th Anniversary Celebration, has received an Illinois Press Association (IPA) display advertising award in the newspaper organization’s annual state contest.
The IPA recognized “100 YEARS of BUSINESS” with third-place award for display advertising in a one-time special publication within its category of weekly newspapers.
Featured a 50-50 split between display advertising and editorial pages, the Independent’s 40-page special section generated nearly double the projected ad revenue, from which Owner and Publisher Pete Cruger donated $1,200 for our Chamber to purchase 100th Anniversary commemorative lapel pins.
“100 YEARS of BUSINESS” was published in September on 2018 to coincide with ECCI’s activities that month centered around Chamber of Commerce Week proclamations both for Illinois by then-Governor Bruce Rauner and Elmhurst by Mayor Steve Morley.
Ad winners will be honored during an Awards Luncheon at the President Abraham Lincoln DoubleTree Hotel in Springfield on Thursday, May 2, as part the IPA’s Annual Convention from May 1-3.
The Springfield-based IPA represents approximately 450 daily and weekly newspapers.
