HERLIEN JOINS ELMHURST CHAMBER BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

            ELMHURST, Ill., January 17, 2011—Local businessman Robert “Bob” Herlien was sworn into fill a vacated seat on the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Board of Directors during the January 11 meeting at Elmhurst College.  His appointment was approved during the Board’s December 14 meeting at the Chamber.

Herlien, a Sales Representative for Republic Services/Allied Waste Services since 2006, will complete the final year of Elmhurst Mayor Peter “Pete” DiCianni’s three-year Directorial term.  DiCianni resigned after becoming Mayor in 2009.

Herlien also follows in the Directorial footsteps of co-worker Todd Gibbons, who represented Republic/Allied Waste for two elected terms (2004-10).

A Chamber member since 1967, Allied Waste co-sponsors the Annual Steak Fry/

Business After Hours held in September in celebration of Chamber of Commerce Month.

Herlien has participated in waste and recycling program in Elmhurst and Downers Grove.  His resume includes stints with Roy Strom (2005-06) and a Sales Representative and Intuit (2004-05) as a Field Sale Intern.

Herlien is a 2001 graduate of Timothy Christian High School in Elmhurst.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (2005) in business communications from Calvin College.

A 25-year resident of Elmhurst, Herlien recently moved to Wheaton.

            Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together to promote the civic and commercial progress of the community.

            The Chamber also serves the needs of its members through services, programs and events that provide opportunities for networking and referral, business education, development and promotion, governmental representation and community involvement.
