“Ravenscroft” is a psychological drama with a setting worthy of a Gothic thriller. In Don Nigro’s darkly comic mystery, a police inspector arrives at a remote old mansion on a snowy night. Inspector Ruffing is investigating the recent death of a servant at the Ravenscroft estate. He discovers that the young man met his death after taking a tumble down the main staircase. Was it an accident, or was he pushed? In turn, the inspector interviews five alluring and dangerous women: Marcy, the beautiful Viennese governess with a past; Mrs. Ravenscroft, the flirtatious lady of the manor; Gillian, her charming but possibly demented daughter; Mrs. French, the formidable and passionate cook; and Dolly, a terrified maid. With each interview, Inspector Ruffing discovers ghosts on the staircase and skeletons in the closet, not to mention the darkest secret of all: his own tortured soul.
