Children with special needs, along with their families, are invited to the annual Special Kids Day on Wednesday, December 4, from 3:30-8:00 p.m. This holiday event takes place at The Wilder Mansion, (211 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst) in an obstacle-free environment that’s been prepared for the uniqueness of special children.

Founded in 1990, Special Kids Day has touched the lives of hundreds of kids who have physical and developmental disabilities.   A heartwarming (and totally free) family evening, it focuses on including and pleasing these children with special needs. Each will receive a photo with Santa Claus, a bag of gifts, and homemade cookies.  In addition, there will be an opportunity to make a holiday themed craft.  Handicapped parking will be available at the Wilder Mansion, an Elmhurst Park District facility.

This annual event is made possible by the Special Kids Day Committee, numerous private and corporate donors, and many staff members and students of Elmhurst College. Because of the generosity of so many people, Special Kids Day is now able to provide similar celebratory experiences throughout the year, such as “Special Kids Carnival Day” and “Special Kids Zoo Day” in the summer months.

Special Kids Day is a registered 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization, and all donations made to Special Kids Day are tax deductible.  For more information, visit www.specialkidsday.org or call (630) 530-7700.
