The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County invites outdoor enthusiasts to get some heart-healthy exercise along a variety of trails during the “Forest Fitness Walks” series for adults taking place from Nov. 18 through Dec. 16 on Mondays from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

“This series will offer a great way for participants to keep active as we move into the colder months, and I hope visitors enjoy trekking on trails they’ve never explored before,” said program leader Dave Andrusyk, a naturalist with the District’s Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center in Oak Brook.

Hikes are scheduled at the following locations: James “Pate” Philip State Park in Bartlett on Nov. 18, York Woods Forest Preserve in Oak Brook on Nov. 25, Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve in Naperville on Dec. 2, Danada Forest Preserve in Wheaton on Dec. 9 and Fullersburg Woods Forest Preserve in Oak Brook on Dec. 16.

Hikes cost $6 per person per hike, and discounted 10-program passes are available for $40. Participants should register in advance by calling Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center at 630-850-8110.

Want to move for your health but can’t join these hikes? The District offers more than 80 miles of multipurpose trails through numerous natural areas. Access is free, and most locations are open daily from one hour after sunrise to one hour after sunset. Maps are available at information kiosks at many preserves and online at dupageforest.org under “Places to Go” and “Forest Preserves.” Visitors can also request maps by emailing forest@dupageforest.org or calling 630-933-7248.
