Gone, But Not Forgotten
The Chamber is sad to report the death of Lois D. Rathje (nee Miesler), 76, former Owner of West Suburban Office Products (178 North York Street) and a registered nurse, in Downers Grove on February 6.  Funeral services were held at Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary (435 North York Street) on February 9, with interment in Addison.  Among the survivors are sons Don and John Rathje, who own and operate the family business.

Debra Klostermann, Partner and Mortgage Loan Consultant with the Catalano Mortgage Team of American Home Mortgage, was honored by AHM in Orlando, Fla., on February 14, as the mortgage company’s No. 3 loan originator across the nation.

Antonio DeBlasio, a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School (217 Cottage Hill Avenue), became a Partner with the law firm of Kubiesa, Spiroff, Gosselar & Acker, PC (533 West North Avenue, Suite 204) effective February 13.  Specializing in the prosecution and defense of complex litigation matters, DeBlasio has represented hospitals, HMOs, physician groups, real estate developers, financial and educational institutions, manufacturers and distributors, and companies in the fields of telecommunications, biotechnology, computer software and consulting.  From 2000-06, he practiced as a Partner in the Chicago-based commercial litigation group of Gardner Carton & Douglas LLP.

Mentor Capital Management Inc. has relocated its downtown Elmhurst offices across the street into Suite 450 of the former Fifth Third Bank building (105 South York Street) recently purchased by Catalano and Associates.

Wolf & Company LLP (2100 Clearwater Drive, Oak Brook) has promoted CPAs Shirley Lacko, CFE, Ken Bishop and Dave Kot to Managers in Audit and Accounting Services, and CPAs Ben Schweers and Jolene Giese to Senior Accountants, while Molly Bolden, Milton Ryba, Maureen Hynes, Laurie Graffis and John Schabes have been hired as Staff Accountants.

Both of LaSalle Bank’s Elmhurst locations (205 North Addison Avenue and 1000 South York Street) are partnering with The Salvation Army to sponsor a Warm Clothing Drive of coats, hats, blankets, sweaters, mittens, snow pants, etc., through March 31.

The “State of the City” Address by Elmhurst Mayor Thomas D. Marcucci at the Chamber’s January 17 Membership Breakfast hosted by Community Bank of Elmhurst (330 West Butterfield Road) will air on “Elmhurst Our Kind of Town” on Channel 6 of Comcast during February on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. and Sundays at 7:00 p.m.
