The ESO ensemble will show that strings can swing, too, when its members perform their own lush and bluesy interpretations of favorites by George Gershwin and Edward “Duke” Ellington. The group will play up-beat tunes such as “It Ain’t Necessarily So” and “Take the ‘A’ Train” and some memorable ballads like “Summertime” and “Solitude,” along with colorful commentary to add to your enjoyment. This concert will have you tripping down memory lane as you tap your toes and try to resist singing along with these catchy jazz standards.
