The Elmhurst Symphony Musicians in Performance at Mayslake series opens its season with “Debussy’s Harp,” at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 31st St. in Oak Brook. ESO Principal harpist Janelle Lake brings her Lake Effect Trio to Mayslake to present an all-Debussy program commemorating the 151st anniversary of Claude Debussy’s birth. Kimberly Fleuchaus, flute,JanelleLake, harp, and Terese Parisoli, viola, celebrate Debussy’s multifaceted composition style with a program featuring the Sonata for Flute, Harp, and Viola.
Janelle Lake is the principal harpist of the Elmhurst Symphony, Southwest Symphony, and Oak Park River Forest Symphony. She has performed with Van Dyke Parks (song writer for the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson) and has played for the daily tea and demitasse at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island as well as appearing at the Drake Hotel in Chicago where the audience included President Barack Obama. Janelle Lake’s teaching studios include over 30 students between the ages of six and 89. She also serves as the Artistic Director at the Venus Harp Factory in Chicago, where she plays all new harps before they are sent to musicians around the world.
The Lake Effect Trio celebrates its third year together as Chicago‘s all-female flute, viola, and harp ensemble. Kimberly Fleuchaus and JanelleLake met through their mutual musical degrees at NorthwesternUniversity. Their duet added Terese Parisoli, who is a Julliard graduate, after many positive reactions to her playing at events booked by Kimberly’s musical agency, Jubal Music. Kimberly, Janelle, and Terese collaborate on a wide variety of musical styles and have had the pleasure of playing for diverse audiences ranging from inner city youth to President-Elect Obama.
