ELMHURST SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES STANGER AUDITION WINNERS

 

The winners of the Dr. Robert Stanger Young Artists Audition for 2012 have been announced by the Elmhurst Symphony Association.  Held on January 28 at Elmhurst College, the competition showcased 14 outstanding high school musicians from many of the western suburbs.  The winners are:

 

First Place:

Susie Lee, piano, sophomore, Neuqua Valley High School

Saint-Saéns:  Piano Concerto No. 2 in G Minor

Teacher:  Brenda Huang

Award:  $400

 

Second Place:

Timothy Zhou, piano, freshman, Neuqua Valley High School

Schumann:  Piano Concerto in A Minor

Teacher:  Julia Tsien

Award:  $350

 

Third Place:

Peter Pendowski, guitar, sophomore, Elk Grove High School

Ponce:  Concierto del Sur

Teacher:  Paul Henry

Award: $300

 

Fourth Place:

Grace Ng, piano, sophomore, Naperville North High School

Saint-Saéns:  Piano Concerto No. 2 in G Minor, op. 22

Teacher:  Janet Hickey

Award:  $250

 

The Stanger Competition first-place winner, Susie Lee, will perform with the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra at the opening concert of its 2012-13 season.  Other winners will perform for Kiwanis and the Auxiliary of the Elmhurst Symphony in the next few months.
