Elmhurst Symphony Announces 51st Season
Also on the program will be the winning overture chosen by a vote of last season’s concertgoers and the 2011 Stanger Young Artist Audition winner, violinist Kiyoshi Hayashi, playing a movement from Wieniawski’s Concerto No. 2 in D minor.
The ESO will perform in the spectacular space at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church and returns to Rockefeller Chapel in Chicago , giving music lovers the opportunity to hear the ESO in two wonderful settings.
In its 51st season, the Symphony will offer five different concerts in the two locations, with no increase in subscription ticket prices from the 2010-11 season. Patrons can choose packages of three to five concerts with significant savings of as much as 30% compared to single ticket prices.
A Baroque concert, an appearance with the Apollo Chorus of Chicago, and a program featuring Holst’s The Planets and John Williams’ Star Wars Suite, along with performances by cellist Katinka Kleijn from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and pianists Inna Faliks and Rich Ridenour, will be highlights of the season.
Continuing the tradition of featuring local groups among its guest artists, the ESO will showcase the Elmhurst College Women’s Choir and a side-by-side with members of the Glenbard East Orchestra at its November concert. Music by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Prokifiev, and Berlioz promise a concert season of wide appeal.
Earlybird subscriptions will be available only through April 30, at a cost of five concerts for $105; four concerts for $88; and three concerts for $71. For information and to purchase tickets, call the ESO Box Office at 630-941-0202 .
