The City of Elmhurst is pleased to announce that Dan Leahy has formally accepted an offer to become the City’s first Communications Manager. He will begin duties with the City on July 7.
Leahy comes to Elmhurst after six-plus years as the Marketing and Communications Manager for the Bolingbrook Park District. In his new role, Leahy will lead communications and marketing initiatives for the City, including community relations, strategic communications, branding, public relations and related activities. He will oversee all tools related to these efforts, including the City’s website, social media, newsletter and emerging technologies.
“We see Dan playing a key role in the development of a cohesive approach to the City’s increased communications and marketing needs,” City Manager James Grabowski said. “He has a strong and diverse background that fits the scope of the position.”
Prior to serving the Bolingbrook Park District, Leahy led a series of formative assessment products as Sr. Editor for Riverside Publishing in Itasca, Ill., and was Editor-in-Chief for a monthly consumer magazine at Ziff-Davis Media in Oak Brook, Ill.
“Elmhurst is a fantastic city, and I want to make sure it’s recognized as one of the best places to live while improving communications with its leaders, residents, employees and visitors,” Leahy said. “I’m looking forward to making a difference in the community.”
Leahy holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He lives in Bolingbrook with his wife Marianne and two children, Camden, 16, and Tyler, 15.
