A premier, comprehensive, four-year college founded in 1871, Elmhurst University blends liberal learning and professional preparation to educate students for life in a global society.
Elmhurst accomplishes its primary mission of enabling students to achieve their full potential by providing a range of high-quality academic offerings—60 majors and programs of study in 25 undergraduate departments and more than 15 graduate degree programs—to more than 3,200 undergraduate and graduate students.
The college is recognized for the excellence of its programs and faculty. A faculty member, not a teaching assistant, teaches every class, and more than 80 percent of 160 full-time faculty hold the highest degree in their academic field. The average class has 17 students, with a student to faculty ratio of 13-to-1.
Elmhurst consistently ranks as one the Midwest’s best values in higher education, according to the U.S. News and World Report, and Money and Forbes magazines.
