Elmhurst Artists’ Guild hosts Mainstreet Art Centre instructors

Nine fine arts instructors from the Mainstreet Art Centre will showcase their own works in a new art exhibition hosted by the Elmhurst Artists’ Guild from September 17 through October 21 in the EAG gallery at the Elmhurst Art Museum, 150 Cottage Hill Ave., Elmhurst, IL.  A reception, scheduled for Friday, October 7 from 7 – 9 p.m., is open to the public.

According to Frankie Johnson, Director of the Mainstreet Art Centre, the nine instructors who will be exhibiting their paintings have professional careers as artists, exhibit in galleries throughout the U.S., teach workshops and appear in artist publications.  In addition to Johnson, the exhibitors include Tony Armendariz,  Barb Benstein, Ann Feldman, Linda Lukachik, Ardes MacFarlane, Jan Oswald, Susan Ploughe and Karen Sako.

Located in Lake Zurich, Illinois, since 1994, the Mainstreet Art Centre is a fine-art school, offering classes to students of all ages and levels of experience.   “We attract students from the entire Chicago area, Rockford and southern Wisconsin,” Johnson stated.  Classes are offered in drawing, oil, pastels, and watercolor painting.

The show can be viewed during regular Elmhurst Art Museum hours, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Friday.   Admission is free all day Friday and to Museum members and children at all times.

The EAG gallery is not-for-profit, operated by the Elmhurst Artists’ Guild.  It features original contemporary artworks in a variety of styles and media.  Each year it hosts several group shows featuring the artwork of Guild members, an invitational show for a significant local artist, and the National Art Premiere, a nationwide juried group show. Exhibits are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.  More information is available at www.elmhurstartistsguild.org.
