The Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry Board of Directors at its May 14 meeting approved new Executive Committee and new Director appointments following the resignation of First Vice Chair Lori Murray, who resigned from Inland Bank for a new job with CDW.
Without dissent, the Board approved Chair Kevin Kost’s appointments of Director Bill Korbel of Shaw Media to the Executive Committee as First Vice Chair and Joe Christopher of Inland Bank as a Director to complete Murray’s three-year Board term.
Korbel has served Shaw Media as Local Sales Manager since 2012, following a 10-year stint with Suburban Life Newspapers as an Account Executive. He has worked directly with the Elmhurst Chamber on the production of its annual Community Directory and monthly News & Notes columns, along with display advertising needs.
As First Vice Chair, Korbel will serve as Chair of the Membership Committee until November, when Director and Executive Committee elections are held.
Korbel, who is in line for November election as the Board Chair for 2020, is serving in his fourth term as a Director dating back to 2008.
Christopher has served Inland Bank as an Assistant Vice President and Villa Park Branch Manager since May of 2012, and is also taking charge of Inland’s Elmhurst locations.
His has more than 25 years of experience in banking and mortgage lending includes stints with BMO Harris Bank as a Senior Banker (2008-12), Bank of America as Regional Sales and Operations Manager (2005-07), Household International as Operations, Sales and Underwriting Manager (2002-04) and Old Republic Insured Financial Services as Vice President and Director of Loan Administration (2000-01).
Christopher has been active in the Villa Park Chamber of Commerce, including service on the Board of Directors since 2015.
A graduate of Elmhurst College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, Christopher also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University.
