ELMHURST PLANS SEPTEMBER CELEBRATIONS
AROUND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WEEK
ELMHURST, Ill., August 26, 2005 – In celebration of Chamber of Commerce Week in Elmhurst from September 12-18, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry is sponsoring a month of special events and its annual new member campaign.
At the request of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Governor Rod Blogojevich has proclaimed September 12-16 as Chamber of Commerce Week in Illinois.
Mayoral Proclamation
Elmhurst Mayor Thomas D. Marcucci has issued a Mayoral Proclamation declaring September 12-18 as Chamber of Commerce Week in Elmhurst.
Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic and commercial progress of the community.
The Chamber also serves the needs of its members through services, programs and events that provide opportunities for networking and referral, business education, development and promotion, governmental representation and community involvement.
“With more than 640 members, the Elmhurst Chamber is the largest organization representing the business interests of our members, and promoting commerce and industry throughout our community,” said John Quigley, Chamber President since 1999.
New Member Campaign
The Chamber’s new member campaign, which will run through September, features a 16-month membership (good through 2006) at the annual cost. Chamber membership starts at $205.00 per year for businesses with five employees or less. For the first time, new members can pay their Chamber investment via a direct debit program.

During Chamber of Commerce week, Elmhurst will sponsor a Brown Bag Lunch and participate in a multi-chamber Business After Hours at The Morton Arboretum for the second year in a row. Also in September, the Chamber will sponsor its annual Family Steak Fry, monthly Membership Breakfast and bi-monthly Executive Briefing.
Brown Bag Lunch
Titled “Improve You’re Business in 12 Minutes or Less!,” the Brown Bag Lunch & Learn will be held in the Chamber Conference Room, 113 Adell Place, on Wednesday, September 14, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Beverages will be provided.
Brown Bag presenters include Elene Cafasso of Enerpace (240 North Addison Avenue), Michelle Knight of MMK Enterprises (1539 South Ardmore Avenue, Suite C) and Jean Bruno of Jean Bruno Consulting & Coaching (259 South York Street).
Business After Hours
The Morton Arboretum, 4100 Illinois Route 53, Lisle, is hosting a nine-chamber Business After Hours on Thursday, September 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Elmhurst’s L’Athar Mediterranean Cuisine (149 North Addison Avenue) and Cafй Amano (105 South York Street, Suite 100) are among the caterers donating food and beverages.
Executive Briefing
An informational lunch on member programs, products and services, the Executive Briefing will be held at the Chamber Conference Room on Wednesday, September 21, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Food and beverages are provided.
Family Steak Fry
In celebration of the last day of summer, the Chamber is partnering with the Elmhurst Park District (225 Prospect Avenue) to stage its 2005 Family Steak Fry at The Hub at Berens Park, 493 Oaklawn Avenue, on Wednesday, September 21, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Silverado Grill (447 Spring Road) will cater a steak (or chicken) dinner at a cost of $15.00 per adult, while children/grandchildren will eat hot dogs for free.
Chamber members will have free use of some of The Hub’s amenities, including an 18-hole miniature golf course, batting cages and the Lee A. Daniels Pavilion.
Membership Breakfast
Leonard Family Dental, 110 South York Street, and The Spice Merchant & Tea Room, 108 West Park Avenue, will co-host the Membership Breakfast on Thursday, September 29, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.
