ELMHURST CHAMBER HONORS DEMICHELE WITH GOLF OUTING GOOD WORKS AWARD
ELMHURST, Ill., August 7, 2007 – Building contractor Paul DeMichele was honored as the 2007 recipient of the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s “Tee Off for Toche” Good Works Award presented at the Chamber’s 59th Annual Golf Outing held at Maple Meadows Golf Club in Wood Dale on July 25.
A member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, DeMichele is the Founder and Owner of DeMichele Builders (17W275 Rodeck Lane, Bensenville), a commercial and residential contracting firm, and a Chamber member since 1997.
The award was given to DeMichele “for his contributions to the betterment of the Chamber and Elmhurst business community through his tireless service as a member of the Board of Directors for multiple tenure, Executive Committee and Membership Committee, his freelance work as the Chamber’s unofficial event photographer, service to community through the Life Education Center and Red Ribbon Week Committee, and his volunteer support of the Chamber Golf Outing.”
Presented annually at the Chamber Golf Outing since 2000, the Good Works Award is named in memory of the late Chamber President, A.J. “Toche” Terrones, who led the Chamber for nearly 10 years until his death the night before the 1999 Golf Outing. The award plaque was donated by B.E.A.R. Awards (137 Richard Avenue).
“Paul has been a fixture at our Golf Outing as a volunteer for as long as I can remember,” stated John Quigley, Chamber President and CEO. “He arrives early to work the registration table, spends the day out on the course overseeing the Hole-In-One Contest and serves as the unofficial photographer during our Awards Program.”
Past recipients include Chamber Retention Coordinator Jerry Sletten (2006), the mortgage team of Frank Catalano Jr. and Debra Klosterman (2005), retired business executive and Membership Vice President Howard Schreiber (2004), retired banker John Wartinbee (2003), Elmhurst Mayor Thomas D. Marcucci (2002), entrepreneur Betsy Hanisch (2001) and Tom Coffey (2000) of Electronic Specialty Design.
“We present this award to people who have supported our Golf Outing in particular and the Chamber as a whole, and contributed to the Elmhurst business community at large,” Quigley stated.
Prior to his 2006-07 election to the Chamber Board, DeMichele served two terms as a Chamber Director (1998-04) and was a three-year Executive Committee member. He served as Second Vice Chairperson and Chair of the Membership Committee (2004), and was twice Treasurer (2002 and 2003) and Chair of the Ways and Means Committee.
