Not every town can say that it has its very own museum to explore. In Elmhurst – where there are three unique museums within walking distance from one another – museum-going is a cultural arts phenomenon worth celebrating.
On Sunday, May 17, 2015, all three Elmhurst museums will open their doors to welcome visitors for the 19th annual Museum Day. The Elmhurst Art Museum, Elmhurst Historical Museum, and the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art will be open free to the public from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. with fun activities and engaging exhibits for visitors of all ages. Admission at each location is free.
Elmhurst Museum Day is part of an international event designed to remind the public of the value museums bring to the community as an important resource for education, cultural exchange, and development of mutual understanding and cooperation among people.
Elmhurst Museum Day showcases the exhibits, collections, and programs at three different museums located within close proximity in central Elmhurst. A complimentary trolley will run between the museums throughout the day to transport visitors to each location. Participants who receive stamps at all three museums can qualify for a prize drawing that includes: Classic Cinemas gift cards, passes to The Hub batting cage and mini golf facility, Elmhurst City Centre gift certificates, museum membership packages, and more.
