Brown Bag Lunch & Learn
Members can pick up tips on “How to Better Expo-se Your Message to Potential Clients” when participating in business expositions or trade shows at the Chamber’s Brown Bag Lunch & Learn, presented by Prairie Display/Chicago (600 North Michigan Avenue) and Porter Specialty Advertising (463 West Fullerton Avenue), in the Chamber Conference Room on Wednesday, August 16, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Bring your lunch and beverages will be provided.  RSVP by Tuesday, August 15, to the Chamber office.

Business After Hours
Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 (130 West Madison Street) will host a “Meet Our New Superintendent” Business After Hours at York Community High School (355 West St. Charles Road) on Wednesday, August 23, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Dr. Lynn Krizic is the new Superintendent.

Business-To-Business Expo
Marketing and sales guru Tony Rubleski, President of the Mind Capture Group, will be the Keynote Speaker at the Chamber’s 2006 Business-To-Business Expo in the Waterford Banquet and Conference Center at Quality Inn (933 South Riverside Drive) on Wednesday, October 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Rubleski will preach about the “Seven Secrets To Improve Your Marketing and Get More Sales” in his 60-minute address, starting at 11:00 a.m.

Be one of our four Keynote Speaker sponsors ($699.00) and you will receive a 20-minute private consultation with Tony Rubleski following his seminar, VIP seating at the seminar and autographed copy of “MIND CAPTURE,” complimentary booth space in choice location, and recognition on line (with hyperlinks) and in print.

The exhibitor fee is $150.00 for Chamber members (free to member restaurants and bars serving complimentary food and/or beverages) and $300.00 for non-members.

Expo admission is free to Chamber members with a business card and $20.00 for non-members.

Chamber Anniversaries
The following three businesses and not-for-profit organizations are celebrating their Chamber anniversaries in August:

35 Years—Elmhurst Symphony Association (P.O. Box 345);

20 Years—The Silverado Grill (447 Spring Road); and

5 Years—Creative Inks (261 North York Steet).

In addition, Petal Pushers Floral Shoppe (331 North York Street), a Chamber member since 1991, is conducting a 15th Anniversary Sale throughout August.

Chamber Steak Fry
ARC Disposal & Recycling Co., Inc. (2101 South Busse Road, Mt. Prospect) and the Elmhurst Jaycees (P.O. Box 235) will co-sponsor the Chamber’s Steak Fry/Business After Hours—featuring a hand-cut rib-eye steak dinner (or chicken breast) and all the fixings from The Silverado Grill (447 Spring Road) plus beverages—at The Hub at Beren’s Park (493 Oaklawn) on Wednesday, September 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  The event includes use of the 18-hole miniature golf course, batting cages and spray ground.  Ticket cost is $20.00 for two through August and $20.00 per person in September.  Hot dogs and soft drinks are free for children and grandchildren.

Membership Breakfast
Lincoln at Ovaltine Court (1 Ovaltine Court, Villa Park) will host the Chamber’s Membership Breakfast on Wednesday, August 9, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.

New Teachers Luncheon
The Chamber is sponsoring its 16th Annual New Teachers Luncheon to welcome teachers new to Elmhurst’s public and private schools at the Diplomat West Banquet Halls (681 West North Avenue) on Monday, August 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Costs are $25.00 per person and $25.00 to sponsor a teacher.  Donations for teacher goodie bags are welcome.

Newsmakers
Wolf Financial Group (2100 Clearwater Drive, Oak Brook) will host an Economic and Stock Market Update, featuring Eagle Asset Management Equity Income Manager Lou Kirschbaum, in the English Room at Drury Lane on Wednesday, August 23, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  RSVP before August 18 to Gail Joyce at 545-4501.

Elmhurst College (190 Prospect Avenue) has promoted Scott LaMorte, formerly Director of Corporation and Foundation Relations, to Senior Development Officer in the Office of College Advancement.  He is a member of the Elmhurst Economic Development Commission.

Stephen Carr has been serving as the new Executive Director of the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra since June 19.

Great Lakes Lab Rescue (105 East Vallette Street, PMB #1175) will hold a Car Wash Fundraiser at Voo’s Corner (539 Spring Road) on Sunday, August 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Proceeds will help defray the treatment costs for two labs afflicted with Parvovirus.

The Elmhurst Newcomers and Neighbors Club (P.O. Box 416), a group for women, will hold a Membership Kick Off Party at Cafй Amano (105 South York Street) on Wednesday, August 30, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  For more info, visit www.ennc.org.
