Artists’ Guild Hosts Spring Members Show
The Elmhurst Artists’ Guild will host the annual Spring Members Show, featuring a variety of original artwork by the members of the Elmhurst Artists’ Guild (“EAG”), from April 5 through May 13. The public is encouraged to attend the reception on Friday, April 8, from 7:00 to 9:00pm.
“The reception provides a terrific opportunity to meet the artists and learn about their work, by speaking with the artists themselves, as well as with the show judge,” stated Wes Baker, EAG President.
The artworks will be judged and awards bestowed by Nina Weiss, a nationally recognized landscape artist and instructor at the School of the Art Institute, Columbia College and Evanston Art Center.
The Spring Members Show presents the contemporary artwork of several dozen emerging and established predominantly west suburban Chicago area artists. Their breadth of styles encompasses dramatically different artworks, such as Bert Cohn’s surrealistic award-winning digitally altered photographs, like “Windy City vs Trump Tower” in which the Trump Tower is literally furling in the Chicago wind, and wife, Holly Cohn’s abstract paintings, some of which have been exhibited in the Elmhurst Art Museum. Bob Proce’s Renaissance-like detailed acrylic paintings are offset by the bold, electric colors of Randall Stringer’s digitally enhanced “Carnival,” Charlene Lee-Freislinger’s delicate pen and ink drawing of the Wilder Park Conservatory, and Tony Armendariz’s lovely, narrative watercolors.
Most artworks in the exhibit are available for purchase, along with a sampling of high quality Giclee prints.
Wes Baker commented, “We offer affordable great art that benefits at least five ways. Artwork sales bring joy to the purchaser while supporting the artist, the EAG, and the Elmhurst Art Museum. Additionally, the exhibit provides enjoyment and educational opportunities to our community, as recognized by the Illinois Arts Council when it recently awarded a grant to the EAG to help support its shows.”
The Elmhurst Artists’ Guild Gallery, located in the Elmhurst Art Museum, 150 Cottage Hill Ave., Elmhurst, IL 60126, is open during regular museum hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
