For the second straight year, the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has won an Excellence in Tourism award at the Illinois Governor’s Conference on Travel & Tourism. This year, it was their Meeting Professionals Guide for “Best Sales Collateral.”

Illinois’ Excellence in Tourism awards honor innovative tourism marketing initiatives that promote destinations, attractions and events throughout the state. This year’s awards were presented last Monday evening at a dinner at the Palmer House Hilton hotel in Chicago, where the conference was being held.

Executive Director Beth Marchetti and Director of Marketing & Operations Nanette Traetow were on hand to receive the award from the newly appointed director of tourism for the State of Illinois, Cory Jobe.

“We are thrilled to be recognized again this year for producing superior travel and tourism materials,” remarked Marchetti. “This year, it is especially rewarding, because the meetings market is such an important force in DuPage County’s economic development and a big reason why we are second only to Cook County in tourism revenue for the state.”

“Our team works really hard to produce quality materials that resonate with our audience,” states Traetow, who was project manager and head writer for both publications. “We won for our Visitors Guide last year, and I can’t be more excited that we are being recognized by our industry for our Meeting Professionals Guide this year.”

The DuPage County Meeting Professionals Guide is one of several print and electronic tools that the DuPage CVB produces to convey how DuPage County is an ideal alternative to downtown Chicago for holding meetings and events, with its 2 million square feet of combined meeting space, 100+ hotels and resorts, over 16,000 hotel rooms, and world-class shopping, dining, attractions and entertainment.

The award-winning publication was produced by the DuPage CVB in partnership with Midwest Meetings magazine and KFoundos Creative Inc.
