Elmhurst, IL – Suburban Bank & Trust (SBT) employees offered their services as translators to non-English speaking homeowners at the Help for Homeowners Community Event held Monday, April 23 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. Irena Bratko, Jerry Krzywicki, Joe Masotti, Mary Solomon, Cleo Stames, and Angela Villegas served as translators for attendees who speak Lithuanian, Russian, Polish, Italian, Hindi, Greek, and Spanish.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), NeighborWorks America, along with Fannie Mae and the Hope Now Alliance, the Help for Homeowners Community Event offered free help to homeowners trying to prevent foreclosure.

Cleo Stames, Vice-President / Director of Consumer Lending organized the SBT team. Stames commented on the event, saying, “This was an excellent event. There’s clearly a need for more events like these for homeowners who need help navigating through the refinancing process or seeking loan modifications. It is great to see mortgage servicers reaching out to homeowners who need help. This public/private cooperative effort, involving federal and local government agencies, housing counselors, and loan servicers helping homeowners avoid foreclosure and keep their homes is simply tremendous. I am proud that SBT employees embraced this opportunity to serve, volunteering their time at this event, and making a difference to homeowners throughout the Chicago metro area.”
