RAFFLE WINNER WILL ENJOY FAMILY REUNION
THANKS TO ELMHURST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

ELMHURST, Ill., December 15, 2000 – Alex G. Christopher of Willowbrook (formerly of Hinsdale) won 100,000 United Airlines miles plus $1,000.00 in cash as the winning ticket holder in the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s “Where Will You Go?” Vacation Raffle.  The raffle drawing took place at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting 2000/Silent Auction held at York High School on November 29.

Christopher, Chairman and CEO of United Armored Services in Broadview, purchased the winning $10.00 raffle ticket from his long-time friend Paul DeMichele of b>DeMichele Builders (17W275 Rodeck Lane, Bensenville).  DeMichele Builders is a Chamber member and DeMichele himself serves on the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

The 100,000 United Airlines miles were provided by Chamber Director Rich Rosenberg of Elmhurst Camera (535 Spring Road) and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream (539 Spring Road), while Chamber Director Karol Nelson Collins of Lynn Marketing Group (757 North Larch Avenue) donated the cash prize of $1,000.00.

Each raffle ticket also included a coupon for a free waffle cone at Ben & Jerry’s.

Christopher can make good use of the airline miles and the prize money—if only to reunite his family in Utah prior to Christmas.  In August, his wife (Susan) and son moved to Salt Lake City, where Jason, 17, is training for a ski-racing career.  Jason, who played goalie in boys’ soccer at Hinsdale Central High School, is attending a prep school near the U.S. Olympic Training Center for his senior year.   Daughter Anna, 20, a junior at Northwestern University in Evanston, will be traveling home from the University of Melbourne in Australia after a semester as an exchange student.

The Chamber sold nearly 700 tickets out of the 1,200 limit and some 200 tickets more were included with the prize packages at the Silent Auction.

Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together to promote the civic and commercial progress of the community.
