BizKids Best Ball Scramble
The Chamber and Elmhurst Family YMCA (211 West First Street), with Major Event Sponsorship from the Catalano Mortgage Group of American Home Mortgage (112 South York Street) and Suburban Bank & Trust Co. (150 East Butterfield Road), are co-sponsoring the BizKids Best Ball Scramble at White Pines Golf Club (500 West Jefferson Street, Bensenville) on Tuesday, July 26, with a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m.  The cost of $175.00 per person includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch and dinner.  Visit www.elmhurstymca.org or call the Chamber at 834-6060 for more info.

Elmfest on Cable TV
Highlights from Elmfest 2005, including the June 10 Opening Ceremonies and Civic Hall of Fame Induction of Jackie Haddad, will air on Channel 6 of Comcast during July on Saturdays at 6:00 p.m. and Mondays at 4:00 p.m.

Forty students were awarded college or trade school scholarships totaling more than $58,000.00 during River Forest County Club’s Classic Dinner Dance and Auction held June 25) to benefit the River Forest Education Foundation chaired by .Jim Hallberg of Wolf Financial Group (2100 Clearwater Drive, Oak Brook). 

Keith Karnstedt of Stolper State Farm (447 North York Street) become only the fifth recipient of the Melvin Jones Award in the 65-year history of the Elmhurst Noon Lions Club (P.O. Box 692), joining his father Art, Hubert “Hub” Stolper and auto dealer Larry Roesch, all since deceased, and Jim Hallberg.  Jones founded Lions Club International on June 7, 1917.

Special Events
The second of three free Music at the Gazebo concerts, sponsored by the Spring Road Business Association and Chamber, will feature the Chicago-based folk duo Small Potatoes on Thursday, July 21, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Fleet Feet Sports, which celebrated its Grand Opening in Elmhurst (124 East Schiller Avenue), on June 18, will sponsor a Women’s5K, 10K & Festival at Chicago’s Montrose Harbor on Sunday, July 31, starting at 9:30 a.m. with a coed race for kids ages two to 14.  The first 1,800 registrants receive a NIKE Dri-Fit singlet and the first 500 participants who pick up packets at the store on Saturday, July 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 25, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. will receive a bonus pair of NIKE socks.

The Elmhurst Children’s Assistance Foundation (P.O. Box 291) is sponsoring its 10th Annual Golf Outing and Awards Dinner at Oak Meadows Golf Course, 900 North Wood Dale Road, Addison, on Tuesday, August 2, starting at 11:20 a.m. with registration.  The cost for 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch and dinner, and open bar is $150 per person.  Dinner only with open bar is $75 per person.  For more info, call Kevin Diamond at 993-0852 or Thad Malik at 782-5137.
