ELMHURST CHAMBER HONORS ADVERTISING
EXPERT AS AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR

ELMHURST, Ill., January 27, 2006 — Local businesswoman Diane McGinnis was recognized as Ambassador of the Year for 2005 at the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s 87th Annual Meeting/Silent Auction held at the Waterford Banquet Room at the Quality Inn last Wednesday (January 25).

The award is presented annually to a member of the Chamber Ambassadors for his/her outstanding service.

McGinnis, Community Liaison for Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare (200 Berteau Avenue), has been an Ambassador since 2002.  Active in other chambers, McGinnis is a member of the Lombard Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and also represents EMH with the chambers in Villa Park, Addison and Oak Brook.

“Diane exemplifies what it means to be a Chamber Ambassador,” said Chamber President John Quigley.  “Her attendance at new member ribbon-cuttings and other Chamber events is near perfect, and she faithfully wears her green jacket with pride.”

McGinnis joined EMH in 2000 after serving as Executive Director of the American Cancer Society’s DuPage Office.  Prior to that, she served on the legislative staffs for State Representatives Dan Cronin, now a State Senator, and Bob Biggins.

McGinnis has been a member of the Elmhurst Noon Lions Club since 2000, serving on its Executive Board for four years.  The 23-year Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot Committee member also serves on the Elmhurst Economic Development Commission and Elmhurst Public School District 205 Youth Mentoring Board of Directors.

A 30-year Elmhurst resident, McGinnis is a member of Visitation Catholic Parish and has served on the Visitation School Board and on the Council of Catholic Women, holding the title of President.

The green-coated Ambassadors represent the Chamber at numerous member business functions, including ribbon cuttings, grand openings, anniversaries and other celebrations and special events.  The group is comprised mostly of current and former members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic and commercial progress of the community.

The Chamber also serves the needs of its members through services, programs and events that provide opportunities for networking and referral, business education, development and promotion, governmental representation and community involvement.
