Elmhurst Hospital/Edward-Elmhurst Health will receive the A.J. “Toche” Terrones Business of the Year Award for 2020 at the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s 102nd Annual Awards Gala held in the Normandy Banquet Room at Elmhurst American Legion THB Post 187 on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Click HERE to register.
“The acute and life-saving services that Elmhurst Hospital staff and the entire Edward-Elmhurst Health system provided to our community and across DuPage County during a world-wide health care pandemic cannot be overvalued,” stated John R. Quigley, ECCI President and Chief Executive Officer since 1999. “It’s as simple as this: the lives of loved ones were saved by those willing to put their own lives at risk.”
The annual award is given based on a member’s contributions to the Chamber’s success, to the betterment of both the business community and Elmhurst community, and impact in their field of business, each in the given year and historically, along with years in business and years as a Chamber member.
The award presentation will be made by Kurt Schiele, Owner of Elmhurst Auto Group, the 2019 Business of the Year honoree, and Quigley.
The annual award, which features a traveling trophy and permanent plaque, is named in memory of A.J. “Toche” Terrones, who served as Chamber President for nearly a decade until his death in July of 1999.

(2001) and Unique Travel Service, Ltd. (2000).
The traveling trophy of imported 24% German lead crystal atop a mahogany wood base will be displayed by Elmhurst Hospital until the Chamber’s 2021 Annual Awards Gala, while an award plaque with a nameplate listing Elmhurst Hospital and Edward-Elmhurst Health is on permanent display at the Chamber office.
Elmhurst Hospital and Edward-Elmhurst Health’s predecessor—Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare merged with Naperville-based Edwards Hospital and Health Services in 2013—have been active Chamber members since 1967.
During Quigley’s three decades of Chamber activity, Elmhurst Hospital and E-EH have regularly been represented on ECCI’s Board of Directors
Currently, Colin Dalough, E-EH’s Manager of Community and Government Relations, is an ECCI Director and a member of the Governmental Affairs Committee.
Preceding Dalough as ECCI Board members were System Vice President of Operations Laura Eslick, Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation Executive Director Susan Tyburski, Dianne McGinnis (EMH Community and Government Relations), Tracy Vilimek and the late William Von Stein (EMH Vice President of Development).
The late Robert Magnuson, former EMH President and CEO, was inducted into ECCI’s Civic Hall of Fame in 1997. The EMH Foundation recently contributed $5,000 to the ECCI Centennial Celebration NFP’s $50,000 Civic Hall of Fame funding goal to create a user-friendly, technology-based public memorial.
