ED ECONOMIST IS KEYNOTE AT MULTI-CHAMBER LUNCHEON

ELMHURST, Ill, February 5, 2009 – Noted economic expert William A. Strauss of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago will be the Keynote Speaker for the 7th Annual Multi-Chamber Economic Outlook Luncheon at the Ashton Place, 341 75th Street, Willowbrook, on Wednesday, February 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry in partnership with seven other area chambers.  Sponsoring chambers include the Clarendon Hills, Darien, Hinsdale, Lisle and Woodridge chambers of commerce, and Westmont Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau.

“This luncheon provides our members with an opportunity to hear an insider’s take on the economy and network with members from eight chambers from neighboring communities,” said John Quigley, Elmhurst Chamber President and CEO.

Williams Strauss, Senior Economist and Economic Advisor in the Economic Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago since 1982, will deliver the Keynote Address for the second year in a row.  Strauss also serves on the Board of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE).

This year’s event is co-sponsored by Elmhurst Chamber members Harris Bank and Synergistic Networks, each of whom will be among some 16 business exhibitors.

Registration and networking begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch is served at 12:00 noon and the program starts at 12:30 p.m.

The cost is $30.00 per person for members of the seven sponsoring chambers.  Non-member cost is $35.00 per person.

The Economic Outlook Luncheon was created in 2003 by Westmont and Elmhurst chambers. Carl Tannenbaum, then Chief Economist at LaSalle Bank and a NABE Board member, was the Keynote Speaker at the first five luncheons.

Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic and commercial progress of the community.

The Chamber also serves the needs of its members through services, programs and events that provide opportunities for networking and referral, business education, development and promotion, governmental representation and community involvement.
