“Mistress America” tells the story of a lonely college freshman in New York, having neither the exciting university experience nor the glamorous metropolitan lifestyle she envisioned. But when she is taken in by her soon-to-be stepsister, Brooke, a resident of Times Square and adventurous gal about town, she is rescued from her disappointment and seduced by Brooke’s alluringly mad schemes. The movie was released at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. (R/84 min)
In response to many requests for more art-related films at the York Theatre, Classic Cinemas recently introduced the new program, Art@York, which features art and foreign movies on the second Wednesday of every month.
An advisory panel has been formed to assist with the selection of films. Guest and community feedback and suggestions are important and can be sent to Shirley Johnson at sjohnson@classiccinemas.com.
