Michael Hullihan, 60, has been named the executive director for the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.

“Mike brings exceptional leadership skills to the District and will help ensure it remains a leading agency in conservation and preservation,” said President Joe Cantore. “His executive experience and background will help advance this organization on behalf of all DuPage County residents.”

Hullihan has been the public works director and village engineer for the village of Oak Brook for the last seven years. He has vast public and private sector experience having also served as the vice president of Gannett Fleming, a global company focused on infrastructure solutions. Hullihan is also a retired lieutenant colonel with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to join a winning team,” said Hullihan. “I’m looking forward to working for an organization with first class facilities and natural areas and a team of professionals from many different disciplines.”

As required by the Illinois Open Meetings Act, Hullihan’s contract will be posted for six days before the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County board officially votes on the deal on July 28, 2015. Hullihan is being offered a one-year contract at a salary of $165,000. He will begin on Aug. 24, 2015. 

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County owns and manages 25,000 acres of prairies, woodlands and wetlands.
