ELMHURST, Ill., October 15, 2018 – Mariella Mastromauro has been hired as the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s new Director of Member Services, effective October 16, ECCI President and CEO John R. Quigley announced.
Mastromauro succeeds Tessa Zemgulys, who served as Director of Member Services from October of 2016 until her July 2018 resignation to start her own business.
Zemgulys started working at the Chamber in January of 2011 as a non-traditional Elmhurst College JOBPATH Program student intern and then served as Executive Assistant to the President and CEO from June of 2011 to October of 2016.
“While Tessa’s departure left an unanticipated hole in our staffing,” Quigley stated, “we feel fortunate to have found someone with Mariella’s overall business experience and first-hand understanding of customer service to join our family.”
Prior to joining our Chamber, Mastromauro worked at Automatic Data Processing (ADP) in Elk Grove Village since 1989 as a Client Services Representative first and then as a Project Service Specialist. Her job background includes work as a Bookkeeper at American National Bank (1987-89).
Mastromauro views her role with customers as that of a problem solver and she prides herself on her ability “to understand the client’s needs.”
Originally developed as a hybrid position that included office management duties, the Director of Member Services is now responsible principally for member recruitment, member retention and member services based on the Chamber’s newly-adopted three-tiered dues annual investment schedule and two sponsorship packages.
“Shifting from employee-based dues to tiers will require our Director of Member Services to work more closely with prospective members to identify which tier and/or sponsorship level will best serve their needs and wants,” stated Quigley. “New members, not our Chamber, will determine their own ‘What’s In It For Me?’”
New member tiers include Advocate (Engagement Tier) at $120 per month, Investor (Marketing Tier) at $80 per month and Member (Networking Tier) at $40 per month—paid via our Chamber’s direct debit options of bank account or credit card.
Regardless of tier level, new members also can purchase a sponsorship package of either Second Century ($5,000 annually) or Elm Leaf ($2,500 annually).
Current members can choose to move to a tier starting in 2019 or remain grandfathered in at the old employed-based level.
“As we prepare to start our second century as a chamber and my 20th year as President and CEO, it was imperative that we acknowledge a major shift in the industry standard by adopting tiered dues for our future,” stated Quigley.
To allow the Director of Member Services to focus on all things membership, our Chamber hired a permanent part-time Office Manager (Kim Kurzcek) last July to handle office management duties, including human resources and bookkeeping.
Mastromauro is only the fifth membership person in Quigley’s 19-year tenure, following in the footsteps of Zemgulys, Kevin O’Keeffe (now Executive Director at the Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce), Betsy D’Onofrio (now with Inland Home Mortgage) and Ann Palumbo (now with Elmhurst College).
Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together to promote the civic and commercial progress of the community.
