ELMHURST CHAMBER TO HONOR AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR

ELMHURST, Ill., December 20, 2010 – Jason Janes will be recognized as Ambassador of the Year for 2010 at the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s 92nd Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner held in the Presidential Room at the Diplomat West Banquet Halls (681 West North Avenue) on Friday, January 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The award is presented annually to a member of the green-coated Chamber Ambassadors for his/her outstanding service.

“Jason is the kind of individual who is equally adept at leading a team and being a team player,” said John Quigley, Elmhurst Chamber President and CEO since 1999.  “This past year, he stepped in to fill my Ambassador jacket at numerous special events.”

“It has been a pleasure to serve as the welcoming arm of the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry to dozens of local businesses throughout Elmhurst,” stated Janes. “I look forward to my involvement in the future as opportunities present themselves.”

A Financial Advisor with Edward Jones (115 West Vallette Street) since 2001, Janes joined the Chamber that same year and became and Ambassador in four years ago.

Janes recently completed a seven-year tenure of the Board of Directors, including Past Chair in 2010.  He was elected to three-year Directorial terms in 2003 and 2006, serving on the Executive Committee from 2007-10, including 2009 Board Chair.

He also has been involved with the York & Vallette Business Association, Elmhurst Jaycees and Elmhurst Masonic Lodge 941.  He serves on the Church Council at First United Methodist Church of Elmhurst and Alumni Board at North Central College.

Janes resides in downtown Elmhurst with his wife and daughter.

Ambassadors represent the Chamber at numerous member business functions, including ribbon cuttings (working under a captain in three teams of 10), grand openings, anniversaries and other celebrations and special events.  The group is comprised mostly of current and former members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic and commercial progress of the community.

The Chamber also serves the needs of its members through services, programs and events that provide opportunities for networking and referral, business education, development and promotion, governmental representation and community involvement.
