A premier, comprehensive, four-year college founded in 1871, Elmhurst College offers students of many ages and backgrounds purposeful learning for the whole of life.

Elmhurst accomplishes its primary mission of enabling students to achieve their full potential by providing a range of high-quality academic offerings—57 majors and programs of study in 22 departments, a range of accelerated majors for adults,15 preprofessional progams and 15 graduate degree programs—to more than 3,100 undergraduate and graduate students.

The college is recognized for the excellence of its programs and faculty.  A faculty member, not a teaching assistant, teaches every class, and more than 84 percent of them hold the highest degree in their academic field.  The average class has 17 students, with a 12-to-1 ratio of students to faculty.

Year after year, “America’s Best Colleges” (the annual survey by U.S. News and World Report) ranks Elmhurst Top 10 both as a regional best and “best value” for the education dollar.
