Citing a resurgence of Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic cases and hospitalizations, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker on October 21 announced new mitigations in Regions 7 and 8 (including DuPage County) that will again shut down indoor dining in restaurants and bars, effective Friday, October 23, at 12:01 a.m.

The new restrictions are based on Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) data that shows both regions with a seven-day rolling average test positivity rate of eight percent or higher for three consecutive days, which exceeds the threshold set in the state’s Restore Illinois plan.

Following are more detail of the restrictions, as provided by the City of Elmhurst’s Economic Development Office:

BARS
o    No indoor service
o    All outside bar service closes at 11:00 p.m.
o    All bar patrons should be seated at tables outside
o    No ordering, seating, or congregating at bar (bar stools should be removed)
o    Tables should be 6 feet apart
o    No standing or congregating indoors or outdoors while waiting for a table or exiting
o    No dancing or standing indoors
o    Reservations required for each party
o    No seating of multiple parties at one table

RESTAURANTS
o    No indoor dining or bar service
o    All outdoor dining closes at 11:00 p.m.
o    Outside dining tables should be 6 feet apart
o    No standing or congregating indoors or outdoors while waiting for a table or exiting
o    Reservations required for each party
o    No seating of multiple parties at one table

MEETINGS, SOCIAL EVENTS, GATHERINGS
o    Limit to lesser of 25 guests or 25 percent of overall room capacity
o    No party buses
o    Gaming and Casinos close at 11 p.m., are limited to 25 percent capacity, and follow mitigations for bars and restaurants, if applicable
